Backgammon Sets

2 objects
The full-size sets: a leather bag that opens flat into a board.
A backgammon set that is also the bag. The board is the inside face of the leather — full-grain, sourced in Italy, cut and finished in Colombia — and it closes into something you can carry on a shoulder.
About the collection

The sets are the house's first object: a bag that unzips and opens flat into a complete backgammon board, with fifteen cream and fifteen black checkers, four dice and a doubling cube in a pocket behind a nickel zip.

Full-grain bovine leather, sourced in Italy and cut and stitched by hand in Colombia. Zipped, it carries like a baguette under the arm or cross-body on the strap; opened, it plays the game you would play at home, the bar and bearing off included.

Good to know

What is inside a set?
Fifteen cream and fifteen black checkers, four dice and a doubling cube, in a pocket behind a nickel zip. The board itself is part of the bag — unzipped, it opens flat to play.
Is it a real backgammon board?
Yes — thirty points, fifteen checkers a side, the bar and bearing off included. It plays the game you would play at home, in leather rather than wood.
How does it carry?
Zipped, it carries like a baguette under the arm or cross-body on the strap. Full-grain bovine leather, sourced in Italy and cut and stitched by hand in Colombia.
Most backgammon sets are boxes. This one is a baguette bag with a board inside it: unzip the fold and the leather lies flat as the playing surface, close it and the checkers travel where you are going. Two players, thirty checkers, one board: the first to bring all fifteen of their own checkers home and bear them off wins. If you already own a set, this one replaces the reason for having it — the same game, in something you would carry anyway. Every set leaves here complete. Thirty checkers — fifteen cream, fifteen black — four dice and a doubling cube. The board holds twenty-four points, twelve to a side of the bar, and each player races fifteen checkers around them to bear off at home.
There are two colourways and both are $600. Nero is open for pre-order; Rosso has sold out. Nero is the quieter object and the one in production. Rosso is the colourway the campaign was shot with, and that run is closed. How it plays, if you are new to it: a roll decides who starts, a double plays twice, and the doubling cube raises the stakes for whoever is willing to say the game is theirs. The shop opens through the game itself. Play one round against the house: win and the collection is yours to browse, lose and you are welcome back tomorrow.
